I knew it was coming.. I just didn't know it was coming so soon. I'm looking for a 4.0L so if anyone knows where I can find a good used one or a cheap new one that would be awesome.

I would like to but I don`t think I could afford it. Wouldn`t I have to change out the wiring harness, get the kit to fit a v8 with the at-5 tranny, and a few other things? What`s the cheapest you think a v8 conversion would run me?

Well, I took it to a machinist who thinks he can fix the block after all.. So hopefully it will work out.

Well, so much for the machinist.. But I did find a 4.0 down in Pipe Creek, TX at Brutal Off-Road for $200. Just needs a cylinder head and I`ve got one! And even better news, a buddy of mine is giving me a 327 for free! I don`t have the money for the whole V8 swap though so I`m just going to hold onto it for the right time.

well if you`ve got a good 327 find a GM trans & transfer to drop in behind it.

It will be a good engine someday. Right now it needs to be rebuilt. From what I know it`s got about 190,000 miles on it and a thrown bearing. I`m going to put the 4.0 in now and hold onto the 327 until I have the money to rebuild it and either get the transmission adapter plate or a different tranny.

The cheapest V8 would be a AMC 360. Add motor mounts, remove some wiring, add 3 core radiator and you are good to go. It will bolt to your tranny as well.

Do you know where I can find one that`s running? Would they all be carburated?

The wrench and pull in Belton has a old waggy with a 304 or a 360. Do not now if it ran.
