1990 Islander. Bought new off the floor in August 1990 after an off road trip in the Rockies with my old Mazda B2600 4X4. I was hooked! It originally had a 258, which now powers my CJ, and extra nothings...not even power steering. Today, it has a mildly built 304, A/C, 4in lift, 33in BFG, 4:10 gearing, Curry slip yoke eliminator & Tom Woods drive shaft, Tomkin rear bumper/tire carrier, Borgenson steering shaft WITH power steering and other pieces that I can't remember at this time.

1975 CJ5. I found this little jewel in Oct.'97 on one of my daily road trips with a price tag of $1100. It was in pretty bad shape but I made an offer of $650 and was promptly sent on my way. 3 weeks later it was still for sale so I stopped again and before I could say anything the guy told me to take it. Seems not too many people want an $1100 rust bucket that's rusted completely in half. But, the frame was good and it had a 44 in the rear, it ran and it had a good title. I then started the rebuild and parted all the parts I wasn't going to use like the engine, transmission, tires and wheels. That was $500 back in the pot. $150 is all I had in this from the start...lookin' good!
Currently the CJ has my YJ's old un-rebuilt 258 running fuel injection from a S10 pickup and a HEI ignition. Drivetrain is a T18a 6:32 1st, with a Dana 20 transfer case that I converted to twin stick (home built). Dana 44 in the rear and Dana 30 in the front 4.27 geared and Detroit lockers in both. Stock gearing was 3.73. Also, I converted the front to disk brakes and added power steering. I run 33in tires with no lift and generous fender trimming. It has a Warn 8000 lb winch, full 6pt. roll cage and on-board air.
