 | A look at the stock intake for the 3.8L V6 on our 2008 Jeep Wrangler | First step is to disconnect the negative terminal connection on the battery |
Unplug the sensor wire harness from the factory air tube | Remove the rubber breather line from the stock air box | Unscrew the clamps securing the stock air tube from the throttle body |
Remove the stock air box and tube. The air box is not bolted in and can be removed simply by pulling it out of the factory grommets | Remove the sensor from the factory air tube | Install the sensor in the True Flow tube using the supplied grommet to secure the sensor from inside the tube |
Clamp on the 2 3/4" x 3” coupler to the throttle body | Install the True Flow tube into the open end of the coupler. Don’t completely tighten as it might need to be adjusted later | Plug in the factory sensor wire harness |
Remove the base of the XDI using an allen wrench | It will require some effort to remove the base | Remove any oil and residue from the XDI base and clamp on the True Flow filter |
Once the filter is in place, reinstall the XDI with the supplied screws | To install the XDI, the power steering reservoir needs to be unbolted. It only needs to be pushed aside and does not need to be completely removed | The XDI will be bolted onto the fan shroud support, and that bolt needs to be removed first |
Set the XDI in place | The XDI will fit into one of the factory grommets | The arm extending from the XDI did not quite fit exactly against the fan shroud support. Fortunately, it can be easily bent to properly fit |
Once in place, bolt in the XDI to the fan shroud support. Make sure the XDI is securely in place and won’t come out of the grommet below | Bolt the power steering reservoir back in place | Install the 4” x 3” hump hose to the XDI using the supplied clamps |
Reinstall the rubber breather line into the True Flow air tube | Make sure that all of the clamps are completely tightened | Reconnect the battery. Restart your vehicle and the ECM will reset and you should have no check engine light |
 The installation is complete! | | |
