Installing a Superlift 4-inch lift kit on a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. In part 3, we put on our new American Racing wheels and Mickey Thompson tires
The last and final step for our Superlift 4-inch was fitting new wheels and tires. Superlift recommends that a 285/70 series tire (32.7” tall x 11.5” wide) is used on an 8.5” wide wheel. A 305/55 series tire generally requires modifications to the wheel well or else it will rub. For our particular Jeep we went with a set of Mickey Thompson ATZ Radial Plus tires LT285/70/R17 both front and rear. For wheels, Superlift recommended either using a 1-1.25” wheel spacer with the factory wheels, or new wheels with 5.5” backspacing (the factory wheels have a 6.5” backspacing). If possible, new wheels are more ideal than using a spacer. There aren’t too many options out there, but American Racing had the best selection of wheels. We went with their 17x8 Chrome Crush wheel (product #6297837). The fit and finish on the wheels were excellent, and the chrome fit perfectly with the trim on the Jeep.
Our thanks go out to Kurtis Grace at PDC Motorsports in Brea, CA who mounted and installed our wheels and tires.
